Minister of Water Resources Mahdi Rashid Al-Hamdani was briefed today, Friday, on the rehabilitation works of the water pumping station in Diyala province.
The Ministry Of Water Resources (MoWR) said in a statement, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that "Al-Hamdani arrived in Diyala province, accompanied by MoWR’s technical advisor and a number of general managers and directors of the ministry's formations working in the province to oversee the rehabilitation work of the lower Khalis pumping station."
Al-Hamdani said that "This is the largest station to feed Diyala with water from the Tigris River and to secure all the governorate's needs of drinking water and irrigate the orchards," stressing that "it is planned to complete the rehabilitation work within the next two months."
Al-Hamdani also indicated that "There is great cooperation with the Turkish side regarding the water file, affirming that the ministry will send a high-level technical delegation to the Republic of Turkey to agree on a plan for operating the dams during the coming period, hoping from the Iranian side to cooperate in the field of water."
He also stressed that "The rights of Iraq's water supply is a red line, and the ministry is keen to obtain a fair water share.
