Iraq Ministry of Water Resources - MOWR clarified on Saturday, the agenda of the visit of the Iraqi negotiating delegation to Turkey.
”The ministry signed a memorandum of understanding, which was approved and started in action," said the ministry's advisor, Aoun Diab, to the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
He noted that "the most important thing that came in the memorandum is the practical steps, and it contains a vital point, which is Turkey's commitment to give a share of water of the Tigris and Euphrates to Iraq.
”This paves the way for entering into negotiations with Turkey to determine the amount of water, in addition to other items that need to be followed up,” Diab added.
He pointed out that "there is a technical delegation that will be sent by the ministry to Turkey to see the water storage in dams and reservoirs as to discuss the method of operation for the current period and next summer."
