Digital Media Center (DMC) confirmed on Wednesday, the emergence of activity for various individual accounts belonging to supporters of Daesh gangs on Facebook platform, after the spread of photos and news of the martyrdom of Adhamiya passport director Colonel Yassir Al-Jourani with the kidnapped people with him.

"Many Iraqi users were surprised by many Daesh comments that spread on some pages or accounts that described the martyrdom of heroes at the hands of gangs, as the team monitored terrorist accounts that were attached freely," DMC explained in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).

According to the statement, "Some of Daesh accounts are old and have been activated recently, and some of them are accounts for regular users, but they were hacked and exploited for the benefit of Daesh gangs,"

"Daesh accounts have recently been activated and started using images and names that defeat the Facebook algorithm, and the accounts are encrypting some prohibited words in order not to be monitored and thus deleted," added DMC.

The Center also added that "the presence of these accounts is not limited to Facebook platform, but also to Instagram, where there are many accounts who use the Reels service to publish short clips related to them," noting that "Daesh accounts reappear on Facebook platform whenever the organization find  a kind of laxity in dealing with it by the platform,"

"Facebook Company must necessarily increase the human teams that monitor and follow up on these accounts in order to ban them immediately instead of relying on user reports whose content is delayed in response, especially with the increase in the military operations of the Iraqi forces to eradicate the remnants of Daesh cells in some areas where treachery and kidnapping is practiced,” included DMC in the statement.
