GCPI: Business developments in the Grand Welcome Square

    General Company for Iraqi Ports - GCPI revealed on Saturday, the completed projects and the latest developments in the work at the Grand Welcome Square, while confirming the completion of all roads leading to the ports. 

    ”The directorate is on the verge of completing the construction of the Grand Welcome Squar for rehabilitation and customs detection, with an area of one and a half million square meters," said the director of the company, Captain Farhan Al-Fartousi, to the Iraqi News Agency (INA). 

    He added, "The work of the first phase was started during the current year, which is half a million square meters, and it will accommodate more than 2000 trucks, in which the customs inspection will be carried out with the availability of security support and gates for the project and all service departments that will be prepared to serve the supporting authorities and are electronically linked to the ports platform. It is ready before the middle of next year with all its accessories. This is related to commercial exchange,” 

    "With a regard to roads, there is a major reconstruction campaign on the roads leading to the ports, and an important development has been achieved, which is the completion of the entry road by 100% and the rest of the exit road, which has reached a completion rate of more than 75%, and a large afforestation campaign has begun for all roads and paths adjacent to the roads in order to construct them at the port entrances,” included Al-Fartousi. 

    He indicated that, ”the road that connects Faw port to Um Qasr will contain a bridge about 500 meters from the port and will open a new port for Um Qasr port. We have completed all the roads linking Um Qasr port with external roads,”
