Ethiopian army regains control of Lalibela town

    Local media in Ethiopia reported that the Ethiopian army took control of the town of Lalibida, this evening, Sunday.
    According to Reuters, local media showed pictures of the deputy prime minister inspecting the site, famous for its rock churches.
    The agency confirmed that the government forces' control of the place, it was not clear when exactly it took place, as the government forces and the rebel forces of the Tigray region exchanged control of the place.
    The Lalibeda region has spiritual significance for millions of Ethiopian Orthodox Christians.
    Yesterday, the state radio website quoted the Government Communications Office in Ethiopia as saying that "the control of the Ethiopian joint security forces over the aforementioned cities came through the national unity campaign led by Prime Minister Abi Ahmed."
