The Ministry of Communications revealed today, Friday, efforts to close or stop the pages and websites that blackmail citizens or those inciting sectarian tension and immoral behavior.
The ministry's spokesman, Raad al-Mashhadani, said in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The ministry has contracted with private telecommunications companies that provide Internet service in Iraq according to studied standards," noting that "the ministry is working seriously, to communicate with these Companies in order to stop pages or platforms that broadcast sectarian and immoral behaviors and those pages that blackmailed the citizens, in addition to working in cooperation with the security authorities for this and from all technical, scientific and administrative aspects".
He also pointed out that "A major conference on family security has been held previously, focusing on the family, in addition to follow up on all the security, intelligence services, especially for that purpose."
Al-Mashhadani added, "The ministry is very cooperative and is in the process of closing any website that violates the legal requirements," stressing at the same time preserving freedom of opinion and the personal freedom.
