Security media cell said Wednesday that the bombing of the natural gas pipeline between Baghdad and Basra had been foiled by the interior ministry's intelligence agency, without causing any human or material injuries.
"The Federal Intelligence and Investigations Agency in the Ministry of Interior, in cooperation with the Muthanna Police Directorate and during the field survey, was able to thwart the bombing of the natural gas pipeline between Baghdad and Basra provinces, in the first area of Al-Jarbouiya, al-Muthanna province, by placing an explosive device intended to detonate near the gas pipeline," said a statement from the security media cell, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
"The explosives expert in Muhanna police was called in, dismantled and defused without casualties or material damage," the statement said.
