A spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ahmed Al-Sahaf, confirmed the inclusion of the Arabic calligraphy file submitted by Iraq on the UNESCO Intangible Heritage List.
Al-Sahaf said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the file of the common Arabic calligraphy submitted by Iraq in cooperation with Jordan, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Morocco, Kuwait, Libya, Algeria, Egypt and Bahrain was included, and Mauritania, Tunisia, Yemen, Sudan, Palestine and Oman were on the list of intangible heritage during the sixteenth meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Heritage, which was held online at UNESCO on 12/14/2021.
