The US presidency said that Biden will hold a telephone conversation with “the leaders of the nine member states of the Bucharest Group, which is composed of allies from the eastern side of NATO, to brief them on his discussions with President Putin, hear their views on the current security situation, and affirm the United States’ commitment to transatlantic security.” ».
The Bucharest group includes the following nine countries: Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, HungIG, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania and Slovakia.
Biden will conduct this extended phone conversation after a scheduled bilateral phone call between him and his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky, who is seeking US support to confront a Russian invasion of his country. He asserts that Moscow is preparing for it, which the latter denies.
