Joint Ops and Peshmerga agreement to strike terrorism

    Joint Operations Command confirmed on Saturday, the agreement with the Ministry of Peshmerga to carry out large and qualitative operations in the areas of security gaps between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government - KRG, as well as an agreement to increase field coordination in its intelligence and operational axes as well as, the air strikes.

    "Today's meeting between the Joint Operations Command and the Ministry of Peshmerga came after a series of periodic meetings, and was preceded by the opening of joint coordination centers in Diyala, Kirkuk, Makhmour and Western Nineveh, in addition to two main centers in Baghdad and Erbil, as these centers have begun actual work, and today we confirmed many of the issues raised by a high-ranking delegation from the Ministry of Peshmerga and the leaders of the axes,” said the First Lieutenant-General Abdul-Amir Al-Shammari, Deputy Commander of the Joint Operations Command, to Al-Iraqiya NewsTV, followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).

    He added: "In the meeting, we emphasized our need for detailed field coordination, and many issues were raised, and a sincere desire for coordination and joint action prevailed. We now believe that we have moved from the stage of coordination at the higher levels to the stage of field coordination, with both its intelligence and operational axes, as we will move to joint work along the axes between the federal government and the KRG,”

    "There are problems in areas of common interests, and they need field coordination between units and formations in addition to the exchange of field information on a permanent and immediate basis,” he added.

    He stressed that "the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces directed to provide all support to the Peshmerga forces, and it was agreed today on a set of requirements that they need, including armed reconnaissance, and air strikes will be carried out in these areas with a focus on it in the coming days,”

    “The delegation of the Ministry of Peshmerga came to Baghdad to coordinate, and its visit was successful, as it was agreed on the field and air reconnaissance, and there will be two joint brigades to enhance security in areas of common interest. As of today, the exchange of intelligence information has begun, and there are plans now being developed to cover those areas and instruct leaders from both sides to develop coordination and joint action,” he included.
