The Popular Mobilization Forces announced today, Friday, that it had confronted an ISIS attack south of Samarra, Salah al-Din Governorate.
A statement by the Popular Mobilization, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that "a force from the 41st Brigade of the Popular Mobilization thwarted an attack on ISIS terrorist remnants south of the city of Samarra in Salah al-Din Governorate."
The statement added, "A group of ISIS terrorist remnants tried to attack the Yathrib district, south of Samarra, before a force from the 41st Brigade of the Popular Mobilization confronted them, clashing with them and forcing them to flee."
He pointed out that "the operation did not result in any casualties in the ranks of the Popular Mobilization Forces."
