UK and Poland collaborate on multi-billion pound Polish air defense systems

    British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace signed, during his visit to Poland, an agreement to cooperate in the field of air defense system.
     
    "This agreement will bring significant changes to our defense cooperation with Poland and will pave the way for closer cooperation between our military," Wallace said after the visit in a statement on Friday.
     
    The British Ministry of Defense indicated that, for the first time in relations between the United Kingdom and Poland, a statement was announced regarding the two countries’ participation in the exchange of the latest technologies for future development within the “NAREW” short-range air defense program, and its budget is expected to reach several billion pounds. ".
     
    Poland allocates an estimated 33 billion zlotys (equivalent to about 8 billion dollars) to the arms industry for the " NAREW" program for short-range air defense, and the program is designed to provide air protection for a range of 40 kilometers.
     
    It is scheduled to enter the NAREW system, as an integral part of the Polish medium-range Wisla air defense system, which relies mainly on American Patriot medium-range missiles manufactured by the American company Raytheon Technologies.
     
     Under the contract signed between the two sides in 2018, the Polish army will receive two "Patriot +3" batteries by 2022.
