Baghdad Operations Command (BOC), confirmed today, Thursday that it will continue to provide the necessary protection for peaceful demonstrations.
"Following the directives of the Prime Minister, the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, the security units led by Baghdad Operations, represented by law enforcement forces, continue to implement plans to secure the protection for peaceful demonstrations in the central Baghdad." Said the media office of BOC in a statement, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
The statement also added, "The security forces continue to provide a high level of protection near the whereabouts of the protesters in order to create a safe environment for the demonstration," noting that "the forces was directed to deal well with the demonstrators and to provide them with assistance with the provision of drinking water and to provide medical units for emergency and health cases, and under the supervision of leaders and commanders, in addition to facilitating the work of media and satellite channels wishing to cover the demonstration".
