Baghdad Operations Command confirmed Providing the full protection of the demonstrators in Tahrir Square, noting that directives were issued to
deal well with the demonstrators and to provide them with assistance.
A statement by the Security Media Cell received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) stated that "in implementation of the Prime Minister directives, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant-General, Commander of Baghdad Operations, supervised the implementation of the plan to protect demonstrators in Tahrir Square in the center of the capital, Baghdad today, Friday," noting that " The security forces have begun to provide
a high level of protection near the demonstration square, aiming to create a safe perimeter for the demonstrators.
The statement added that "the directives included dealing well with the demonstrators and providing them with assistance with the provision of drinking water and harnessing medical detachments for emergency and health cases, and facilitating the work of media cadres and satellite channels to cover the demonstration."
