US President Joe Biden, condemned on Sunday, strongly the assassination of Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi attempt.
Biden said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "I strongly condemn the terrorist attack that targeted the home of the Iraqi Prime Minister, Al-Kadhimi," stressing: "I feel relieved that the Prime Minister was not harmed and I commend the leadership he showed in calling for calm, restraint and dialogue. To protect state institutions and promote the democracy that Iraqis so richly deserve.".
He added, "The perpetrators of this terrorist attack on the Iraqi state must be held accountable," noting: "I condemn in the strongest terms those who use violence to undermine the democratic process in Iraq.".
Biden also indicated that he "has instructed his national security team to provide all appropriate assistance to the Iraqi security forces as they investigate this attack and identify those responsible," stressing that "the United States stands firmly with the government and people of Iraq as they strive to support the sovereignty and independence of Iraq." .
