The Egyptian authorities have resolved the controversy that arose recently on some websites and social networking pages regarding the removal of historical waterways in Fayoum Governorate, under the pretext of developing the area in which they are located .
The media center of the Egyptian Cabinet said in a statement today, Friday, that it had contacted the Fayoum Governorate to find out the truth of these news .
In its response, the governorate affirmed that it is not correct to remove the historical waterways in Fayoum Governorate, stressing that the Fayoum waterways are one of the most important tourist attractions that represent a cultural and historical value for the governorate, and they will not be removed or touched .
The streams were temporarily removed from the field in which they are located until the completion of the development in the area, in order to preserve it, in addition to restoring it with the aim of restoring it to its splendor and heritage .
The ministry revealed that a number of services, including restaurants and tourist bazaars, will be established to serve the region's visitors, thus becoming a civilized tourist destination for visitors .
