The Malian army announced on Wednesday that it had arrested soldiers on charges of torturing civilians, after recently published videos showing angry men in militIG uniforms perpetrating acts of violence sparked.
One of the recordings shows a person apparently being killed, but the army has denied any involvement.
Among the footage circulated on the Internet, pictures of decomposing bodies, scenes of torture and a man being slaughtered.
The Malian army said it identified the soldiers accused of torture and handed them over to the militIG police.
The Malian army constantly faces accusations of abuses against civilians.
The UN peacekeeping mission in Mali said in August that at least 527 civilians were killed, injured or disappeared between April and June.
The mission indicated that terrorist groups are responsible for most of the violent incidents, but the Malian security forces are responsible for nine percent of the violations.
