President Barham Salih confirmed Friday that security forces have cast their votes and are awaiting a national entitlement to protect the public vote.
"Our heroic security forces cast their votes in the elections, and a national entitlement awaits them to protect citizens in the public vote," Salih said in a tweet followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
"On this occasion, we fondly recall the valor and sacrifices of the security services in all their formations in fighting and defeating terrorism and supporting the constitutional democratic choice of our country through free elections," he said.
