The Joint Operations Command revealed the security measures that will be taken on polling day, while confirming that the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, approved the emergency procedures for polling day.
The Deputy Commander of the Joint Operations, Lieutenant-General Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, said in a statement to Al-Iraqiya News, followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "there are emergency measures approved by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, that will be implemented on polling day, and they will be announced next Saturday
He explained that "these measures included closing airports and border crossings and limiting movement between governorates," noting that "a curfew will not be imposed within the governorates, taking into account emergency situations."
He pointed out that "the security roles will be outside the electoral centers and not inside it," stressing that "the security forces will deal firmly with any violation of the law.
