The Security Media Cell announced today, Tuesday the arrest of 16 wanted persons, including three accused of terrorism charges, in Baghdad.
"The security units of Baghdad Operations Command and the intelligence agencies, with high-level coordination with the Operations Intelligence and Security Department and the Agency of Intelligence and Federal Investigation Agency continues their proactive operations, as a force from the 24th Brigade, the Sixth Infantry Division, in partnership with the Abu Ghraib intelligence and counter-terrorism cell, was able to arrest two suspects in accordance with Article (4/1) of Anti-Terrorism Law, after monitoring their presence in Al-Shuhada area, west of Baghdad, " said the SMC in a statement received by The Iraqi News Agency(INA).
SMC added that "A force from the First Brigade, First Division, Federal Police managed to arrest another suspect, according to the same article, in the Nahrawan area, south of Baghdad," noting that "the accused is wanted by the Directorate of Intelligence and Counter-Terrorism, the investigative unit at the general headquarters."
The statement mentioned that, "A detachment from the Iraqi intelligence service, accompanied by a force from the 15th Federal Police Brigade and a detachment from the Tourist Security, managed to arrest three wanted persons for the agency in Al-Saadoun area in the center of the capital, Baghdad, in addition to the arrest of one accused of robbery charges and another of drug abuse by security forces in the First Division, the Federal Police".
The statement also pointed out that "the 11th Infantry Division's units also managed to arrest (8) wanted persons according to various legal articles, including those accused of selling and dealing of narcotic drugs while seizing unlicensed weapons east of Baghdad."
SMC affirmed that "the arrestees’ and the seized materials were handed over to the competent authorities."
