The calls that were launched from the conference held in Erbil for normalization with the Zionist entity provoked rejection and angry reactions from the political and popular panels, and while the jurists considered it a crime for which the law was held, the government agencies confirmed that those who attended the conference do not represent their governorates or clans and they are not authorized to do so. They will be held accountable according to the constitution.
Earlier, Iraqi government confirmed its categorical rejection of the illegal meetings held by some tribal figures residing in Erbil, Kurdistan region, by raising the slogan of normalization with Israel, stressing that the concept of normalization with Israel is constitutionally and legally rejected, while noting that these meetings do not represent the people and residents of the dear Iraqi cities, which these personalities are desperately trying to speak on behalf of their residents, and they represent the positions of those who participated in them only.
The legal expert, Faisal Rikan, expressed, in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "these meetings are not authorized and do not represent the legal opinion of the Iraqi government and the Iraqi people, and the government can sue these people for impersonating the representation of the population and cities of Iraq as they are not represented and did not obtain a permit from the residents of Iraq, nor the Iraqi government in this regard.
Therefore, the law prohibits such behavior and it is possible to sue them before the Iraqi courts and bring them to trials, as they may receive the penalty stipulated in the provisions of the Iraqi Penal Code No. 111 of 1969, as amended.
In turn, the adviser to the parliamentary committees, Hatif Al-Rikabi, confirmed in a statement to (INA), that "all the decisions of the Iraqi state since its establishment until now prohibit dealing with the Israeli entity or any normalization with it, whether it is the decisions of the Arab League, the decisions of the Islamic summit, or the Iraqi laws in force, including the Iraqi constitution, which forbids the pursuit of racist principles, since Israel is a racist state, here racist promotion is normalization in this field, and therefore it is punishable according to the penal laws in force, up to the death penalty or life imprisonment.
The leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, called on Erbil to prevent Zionist terrorist meetings, while calling on the government to criminalize and arrest all those participated in this meeting.
