The Ministry of Water Resources confirmed Saturday, that the Mosul dam is secure and was not affected by the earthquake.
"At 2:42 a.m. this morning, an earthquake hit the Zamar area, 42 kilometers from the axis of Mosul dam to the west, with a magnitude of 4.3 degrees and a depth of 10 kilometers," the Ministry said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
The statement added that "The ministry's cadres were mobilized to conduct an examination, audit and review of all the dam's facilities, as the data of all sensors were studied, and no unusual phenomenon was observed," stressing that "there is no effect of this tremor on the dam and its facilities.”
