The World Bank proposes to raise the electricity tariff in Lebanon

    A Lebanese newspaper revealed today, Saturday, intentions to increase the price and tariff of electricity on a record for citizens in the country, and this proposal came from the list of required and conditional proposals to help Lebanon by the World Bank.
     
    The Lebanese newspaper "Al-Akhbar" reported that the World Bank had proposed increasing the electricity tariff from 135 pounds to 2,000 pounds as part of a plan to reduce dependence on generators, The World Bank proposes to increase the tariff from 135 pounds to 2,000 pounds, as part of a plan to reduce dependence on generators, the price of which is expected to reach six thousand pounds per kilowatt. And reaching a saving of $100 million per month, in addition to the savings that Egyptian gas will achieve.”
     
    In the same context, private sources confirmed to the newspaper that a large Turkish delegation arrived in Beirut with the aim of preparing for the separation process between the Turkish energy-generating ships and the Lebanese network.
     
    For its part, Electricité du Liban( EDL) explained that "the problem at the end of this month is not limited to the lack of fuel supplies, rather than the expiry of the  contract of the two Turkish ships at the same time."
