Salih stresses the necessity of the regional and international action to reduce tensions in the region

    The President of the Republic, Barham Salih, stressed today, Thursday, the need for regional and international action to reduce tensions in the region and to cooperate in facing the climate change crisis.

    The Media Office of the Presidency of the Republic stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "President Salih received today, at his residence in New York, the Swedish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ann Linde, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meetings.".

     During the meeting, according to the statement, they stressed the importance of strengthening the existing relations between the two countries in various fields, praising the support provided by Sweden to Iraq in the humanitarian fields, as well as contributing to the fight against terrorism through the international coalition against ISIS, and referring to Sweden's embrace of a large Iraqi community.

    President Barham Salih indicated, according to the statement, that "Iraq is looking forward to strengthening its security and stability, and working on the need to ensure fairness and justice in the elections scheduled for October 10, noting that Iraq is looking forward to strengthening security and stability in the region and coordinating with the international community to achieve that".
