The National Security Council discusses the files of the fortieth visit and the electoral process

    The National Security Council discussed, today, Thursday, the files of the fortieth visit and the electoral process.

    The Media Office of the Prime Minister said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the Prime Minister, Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, chaired the meeting of the Ministerial Council for National Security," noting that "during the meeting, the security plan for the fortieth visit was discussed." And the measures taken to protect visitors, as well as discussing the mechanism of entry of foreign visitors to Iraq and the facilities provided for them to perform the visit.

    The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces directed, according to the statement, to tighten security measures to protect the processions, and to prevent any security breaches that might target visitors, stressing the need to implement the security plan with precision and care. 

    He stressed "the necessity of activating the intelligence effort, and that the effort be proactive, monitoring and detecting the enemy before carrying out its operations, with the importance of continuing the strikes that managed to break the back of terrorism, and strike the hideouts and hostels of ISIS terrorist.".

    Also in the context of the meeting, the Ministerial Council discussed the security plan for the elections, and the provision of all necessary means to implement it, in a manner that secures the necessary security environment for the conduct of the electoral process.

    The Prime Minister stressed "the need for there to be communication between the security services and the Electoral Commission, through the approved channels of communication, and to inform them of any abuses and violations that occur in propaganda campaigns by the candidates," calling for "achieving the maximum degree of fluidity of electoral practice, and in a manner that encourages active participation." And he stressed the need for the security services to remain neutral, and to limit their duty to protecting the electoral process, and to thwart any attempt to thwart it.
