MOH: Iraq has exceeded WHO's goal

    The Ministry of Health and Environment confirmed, today, Friday, that Iraq exceeded the goal set by the World Health Organization by vaccinating 4 million people before the specified period, while indicating that it had adopted the support vaccination plan by forming field vaccination teams and opening vaccination outlets in public places. 

    The director of the immunization program in the ministry, Firas Al-Moussawi, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "Iraq exceeded the goal set by the World Health Organization for all countries by vaccinating 10% by the end of September," stressing that "Iraq managed on September 8 to reach this goal, We are continuing to work to reach the desired goals to control this pandemic.".

    Al-Moussawi also added, "The efforts made by the Ministry of Health enabled the vaccination of more than 4 million people in Iraq, who represent more than 10 percent of the population.".

    He pointed out that "Iraq has been able to provide good quantities of the vaccine until today, which is the Pfizer and AstraZeneca vaccines, all of which are approved by the World Health Organization, and they are available in all our health centers.".

    In addition to that, he explained that "the third month of this year, the ministry started with 661 outlets, but now there are more than 1,300 vaccination outlets in all governorates of Iraq.".

    Furthermore, Al-Moussawi stressed that "the ministry has adopted a supportive vaccination plan by forming field vaccination teams as well as opening vaccination outlets in public places, as the percentage of vaccines is on the rise and the level of infections is declining."
