A French judicial official confirmed that the former Minister of Health, Agnes Buzan, was subjected to an official investigation on the background of the nature of her handling of the Corona virus pandemic.
"Reuters" indicated that investigators are seeking to determine whether the government is ready to confront the pandemic and whether it has made enough efforts in this direction.
After considering the former minister's work, investigators will make a decision on whether to refer the case to court or close it.
The investigation with Buzan is part of the broader investigation in which Olivier Veran, Buzan's successor as Minister of Health, is expected to be summoned to the same investigation team.
Buzan, who held her position between May 2017 and February 2020, at the beginning of the epidemic, resigned in order to run for the post of mayor of Paris, after the ruling party candidate Benjamin Griveaux was forced to withdraw due to a sex scandal.
Buzan lost the competition for the mayor of the French capital, and ended up being appointed in January to the World Health Organization in Geneva.
Her case is one of the first in the world for health officials to be held accountable for their handling of the coronavirus crisis.
