The Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted a strategic dialogue session on Thursday, in the presence of Pakistan's Ambassador Ahmed Amjad Ali.
the Ministry said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in coordination with the National Security Advisory, hosted a strategic dialogue session at AL Nahrain Center for Strategic Studies on Thursday, September 9, 2021, in the presence of Ambassador Ahmed Amjad Ali of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and The Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to Islamabad, Hamid Abbas, and the session was opened by Strategic Affairs Advisor Saeed Al-Jayashi, on behalf of National Security Adviser Qassim Al-Araji, and with the attendance of a group of specialists, officials and researchers involved in strategic affairs".
The ministry added that “The dialogue session included a review of the common interests between Iraq and Pakistan presented by the Pakistani Ambassador, and the current fields of cooperation presented by the Iraqi Ambassador in Islamabad, as well as the joint working space and analysis of challenges and developments after the changes that took place in Afghanistan and the direct and indirect effects on Iraq and the region.”
It also stated that “The most promising areas of cooperation between Iraq and Pakistan in education, security, tourism, religious visits, oil, energy, investment and high-level training were also outlined, in addition to the importance of mutual visits by officials of both countries and the reflected common interests ,the Pakistani government's interest in Iraq’s importance and its regional and international role, where important questions were asked from the audience which were answered very clearly.
According to the statement, the Pakistani ambassador stressed his government's "interest in combating Islamophobia and its impact on world public opinion."
