Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi directed Thursday, to increase visa issuing for Arbaeen pilgrims abroad.
prime minister's media office said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "Al-Kadhimi directed on Thursday, to double the number of visas granted to pilgrims from Islamic countries visiting Iraq, rather than the number previously approved due to the Corona pandemic and its force majeure, increasing the number from 40,000 to 80,000".
The statement added that “This increase comes as the visit of Imam Hussein bin Ali (peace be upon them) approaches as it resembles pure religious spiritual atmosphere; and so that as many visitors as possible can attend the funeral rituals of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), directing that all arrivals should adhere to the conditions of the vaccine, the covid-19 tests and other health obligations.”
It also stated that “ by Allah’s will and through commitment to health measures, the Corona pandemic will recede, and we will receive our dear guests in the coming years from all countries visiting our country from all over the world, reassured that they won’t be affected.”
