Iraq signs a cooperation framework with the United Nations that includes 5 priorities

    The Ministry of Planning, on Sunday, announced announced that the signing of the framework of cooperation with the United Nations, as pointed out that the framework includes five priorities , namely , ( social cohesion, and improve the economic situation, government services, environmental protection and address the problem of displaced people in Iraq).

    The ministry said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "Iraq and the United Nations Mission in Iraq (UNAMI), signed, today, Sunday, a framework for joint cooperation between the two parties," noting that "the agreement was signed on the Iraqi side by the Minister of Planning, Khaled Battal Al-Najm, It was signed on behalf of the United Nations Mission in Iraq (UNAMI) by Deputy Special Representative and Humanitarian Coordinator Irina Solorano.

     Following the signing ceremony, the Minister of Planning said: "Today we signed a framework document for cooperation between the Iraqi government and the United Nations Mission, through which we will work to achieve the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals for the next four years," noting that "this cooperative framework includes five strategic priorities, namely ( social cohesion, improving the economic situation, government services, environmental protection and addressing the problem of the displaced in Iraq).

    He stressed that "this framework, which the Department of International Cooperation in the ministry worked on, represents a continuation of cooperation under the previous agreements signed between the two sides, as we worked closely during the past year to crystallize this framework agreement that establishes partnership and support by organizations operating under the umbrella of the United Nations and donor countries." To support Iraq in achieving sustainable development goals and addressing what the country has gone through as a result of the Corona pandemic, which is still ongoing,” praising “the role of the United Nations in all its programmes, institution and various organizations that worked with Iraq under different conditions and still provide aid and support, especially in light of the current difficult health conditions.”

    For her part, the Deputy Special Representative of the United Nations Mission, Irina Solorano, expressed her thanks and appreciation to the Minister of Planning for his cooperation and quest to achieve a better life for all Iraqis, indicating that "this document signed today is not new, but rather an update of the document that was previously agreed upon to include a plan for the return The displaced to their areas of residence and treatment of the impact of the Corona pandemic, and that these needs came to meet the requirements of the Iraqi people.
