The Chaldean Patriarchate urged, on Sunday, Iraqis to participate widely in the elections, to choose their representatives who are qualified to represent them.
The Patriarchate stated in a statement regarding the elections received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "there are only a few weeks left before the parliamentary elections in Iraq, on October 10, so the Chaldean Church urges Iraqis to participate extensively in the elections, to choose their representatives who are qualified to represent them." That is, knowledge of politics, the law, and people’s needs, whose hands are clean, and their selves are chaste, who care about the welfare of the country and citizens, and not cheap gains, especially since the previous elections were disappointing.
The church added, "No one would have imagined that things would end as they ended, and people's aspirations would be dreams," noting that "the Chaldean Church, as it expresses its closeness to the aspirations of Iraqis for peace, stability, national unity, the provision of services and a decent life, calls upon the Iraqi government." By providing an electoral atmosphere that enables citizens to vote freely and without pressure.
The church continued, "With regard to the Christian quota deputies, we had called for a single list, restricting voting for the quota seats to Christians, but it was not achieved, with this we call on Christians to choose their representatives according to precise criteria, that is, those who have the qualities we mentioned above, and we hope from the Muslim brothers who have The right to vote on the quota is to vote for people who love Iraq and work for the good of its people.
