Al-Kaabi announces a formula for financially and administratively managing the Human Rights Commission

    First Deputy Speaker of Parliament Hassan Al-Kaabi announced today, Sunday, a formula for managing the Human Rights Commission financially and administratively until the formation of the new Board of Commissioners.

    Al-Kaabi's office said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament received him in his office today, the Director of the Office of the United Nations Human Rights Mission in Iraq, Daniel Bell," noting that "human rights files in Iraq were discussed and the importance of coordination and cooperation between the mission." And the relevant authorities and the Parliamentary Human Rights Committee to follow up on these files  .”

    He added, "The files on human rights in Iraq, the legislation of relevant laws, and the need for coordination between the international mission and the Iraqi Human Rights Commission, as well as the Parliamentary Human Rights Committee, were highlighted, in terms of providing full support and effective coordination with the Commission for Human Rights to ensure its tasks in all Impartiality, independence and integrity, and away from the interference of parties  .

    With regard to the work of the Human Rights Commission and the problem of the delay in the payment of salaries to its employees, Al-Kaabi confirmed that “House of Representatives Speaker Muhammad Al-Halbousi reached a formula for managing the commission (financially and administratively) by assigning someone to this task to run its affairs in this aspect only until the formation of the new Board of Commissioners, that It does not give the authority to interfere in the technical and specialized affairs of the Commission’s work.”

    He stressed, "the work of the commission's departments will remain in accordance with its Legislative Law No. 53 of 2008 to monitor and write reports on the reality of human rights in Iraq," praising "the role of its employees."

    Al-Kaabi called for "to make more efforts to serve this important humanitarian file."
