Ministry of Health and environment stated, today ,Sunday, that it is preparing for the arrival of large quantities of the vaccine at the end of this year, while explaining the direct reason for the spacing between the two doses of Pfizer.
The head of Public Health directorate, Riyad Abdel Amir, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The providing of vaccines by companies is slow, as Iraq has contracted with vaccine-producing companies to provide more than 30 million doses," noting that "the companies delayed the vaccine, so we spaced between the first and second doses according to the instructions of the World Health Organization, which authorized the spacing between the two doses of Pfizer for a period of 12 weeks.
He added that "At the end of this year, we will receive many doses, covering the second dose, up to 20 million doses".
He also pointed out that "the recommendations of the Ministry of Health concerning implementing the decision of the Supreme Committee for Health and National Safety are ongoing; the matter that requires students and teachers to be vaccinated or bring a less than seven days negative PCR examination every working week.
