The Executive Director of the International Energy Agency, Fatih Birol confirmed that global demand for oil will need to decline from more than 90 million barrels per day to less than 25 million by the year 2050
 . It is necessary to move quickly towards reducing dependence on oil and moving towards clean energy, as it is the global trend that will be reflected on the economy in oil-producing countries, as happened with the Corona epidemic crisis, which reduced the demand for oil.

He added that the "global roadmap" prepared by the International Energy Agency shows the trend towards net carbon dioxide emissions to zero by 2050, indicating that global demand for oil will need to decline from more than 90 million barrels per day to less than 25 million by 2050. , This would lead to a 75% reduction in net revenues from oil-producing economies, which is a major resource.

He stressed the need for OPEC member countries to take measures that contribute to reducing dependence on oil and moving towards renewable energy through "economic renewal focusing on environmentally sound policies and technologies", which includes solar energy and nuclear reactors for peaceful purposes.
 This stance came ahead of the run-up to the United Nations Climate Change Conference 2021, also known as COP26, which is scheduled to take place in Glasgow from October 31 to November 12, 2021.
