PSDC sets the date for enacting the Mandatory Service law

    The Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee has set a likely date to legislate the Military Service Law, while revealing the role of those covered by it.

    A member of the committee, Badr Al-Ziyadi, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the persons covered by the mandatory service who are called up according to the certificate they hold, will be, when their training period ends and they are armed, a reserve military force for the Iraqi army and a trained and ready force."

    Al-Ziyadi added, "The law will be legislated in the next year 2022 if there is seriousness from the political blocs in the next legislative session," stressing that "the service of the flag has great and important benefits, as training centers create champions, and therefore young people will be properly prepared based on the values of  courage and military discipline.

    Yesterday, the Joint Operations Command clarified the details of the mandatory service law, while confirming its readiness to implement the law if it is approved.

    The spokesman for the leadership, Major General Tahsin al-Khafaji, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the mandatory conscription law is very important to maintain the momentum of the security forces and to pour new young blood into the Ministry of Interior, Defense and other security agencies and ministries," noting that "this law will raise the capabilities of the security forces and will It will be an incentive to work with very high capabilities and a strong incentive to defeat terrorism."

    He added, "The security ministries, whether the interior or defense, have high capabilities to carry out this national, social and humanitarian mission."

    He added, "The law was submitted to the House of Representatives and includes an age sequence, in addition to the difference in service in terms of certificate for a middle school graduate, bachelor's degree, master's degree or doctorate," explaining: "We are waiting for the parliament's approval of this decision, and we are ready to implement it."

    Furthermore, Last,Tuesday, the Council of Ministers decided to approve the draft law on military service and refer it to the House of Representatives.

    The Prime Minister, Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, also commented on the Twitter platform, on the decision taken by him, saying: "Today, we accomplished what we pledged from the moment we assumed responsibility before our people, by approving the "Mandatory Service" that will enshrine national values in our children."
