National Security Adviser Qassim Al-Araji confirmed on Monday, that Iraq still needs the support of the international coalition in the areas of air support, weapon and training.
"International coalition in Iraq was made at an official request from the Iraqi government in the areas of training and air support. Iraq does not need foreign combat forces," said Al-Araji during his participation in Al-Rafidain Forum for Dialogue, which was attended by the correspondent of the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
Al-Araji added that the withdrawal of US combat forces will be completely at the end of this year “as it was agreed upon with the US administration," noting that "the Iraqi government asked NATO to contribute training all Iraqi security services,"
He explained that "NATO and the Italian police provide training missions within the framework of the international coalition," pointing out that "there is an agreement on Italy's contribution to training the Iraqi police, as well as NATO's mission to provide training for the Iraqi security services,"
“Sinjar agreement is fair and respectful as the government is determined to make it a success, and we cannot come up with an agreement that satisfies everyone 100%," Al-Araji noted, explaining that "2,500 Sinjar residents were recruited to receive the security file within the judiciary,"
The National Security Adviser included that, "the Iraqi government respects the parliament's decision to expel foreign forces," stressing that "we still need the support of the international coalition in the areas of air support, weapon and training,"
