Egypt ambassador to Iraq, Walid Muhammad Ismail confirmed on Monday, his country's efforts to start 3 housing projects in Iraq, as well as projects in the fields of roads and electricity.
"Egypt seeks to stabilize Iraq as a state, and President Abdul Fattah Al-Sisi visited Iraq twice in two months, and this proves the great interest in addition to other various visits among the ministers," said Ismail during his speech at Al-Rafidain Forum, which was attended by the correspondent of the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
Ismail noted that "the trade exchange with Iraq is still below ambition, and it is not large as it amounts to one billion dollars annually,"
He explained that "the Egyptian Minister of Economy visited Iraq to participate in the work of developing the industrial sector and to contribute in the employment of more labor, as there is happy news for the trade exchange between the two countries,"
“Work is currently underway to add 10,000 megawatts of surplus electricity in Egypt to Iraq via joint tripartite linkage between Egypt, Iraq and Jordan," he pointed out, explaining that "the beginning of next month, we will celebrate the opening of 400 megawatt power station in Basra, by Egypt with Japanese funding,"
Egypt ambassador added, "Also, soon there are three housing and road projects between 3 to 4, as most of the projects are implemented by Egyptian government companies," he went on noting that "President al-Sisi does not accept that the quality of the product is not good and is keen on good representation to open the doors to other projects, and we welcome Iraqi investors to cooperate with Egypt,”
