Karbala Criminal Court issued on Sunday, a death sentence for the killer of Karbala’s municipality director.

The reporter of the Iraqi News Agency (INA) said, "The Karbala Criminal Court issued a death sentence by hanging against the killer of Karbala’s municipality director, Abeer Al-Khafaji."

This came after the court began, on Sunday, the trial of the accused in the murder of Al-Khafaji.

Earlier, On August 12, the Supreme Judicial Council announced that the accused of killing the mayor of Karbala, Abeer Salim al-Khafaji, had been referred to trial, while the court set today, Sunday, the 22nd of this month, as the date for his trial.
