The Supreme Judicial Council announced on Thursday, that it has set the 22nd of this month as the date for the trial of the accused of killing head of Karbala's municipality, Abeer Salim Al-Khafaji.
SJC said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that Karbala Investigation Court decided to refer the accused, Hussein Jawad Abdul-Amir, the killer of the head of Karbala's municipality, Abeer Salim al-Khafaji, to Karbala Criminal Court to conduct his trial for that crime, as it was set 22of August 2021 as the date for trial before the Criminal Court.
SJC also added that the referral of the accused took place after the investigation into the crime was completed for the clarity of the evidence, especially with the accused's confession of the crime and the completion of the investigative procedures as exceptional efforts were exerted by the judiciary in Karbala and the competent investigative authorities in the province.
