President of the Republic, Barham Salih, stressed the importance of the role of Japanese companies in reconstructing Iraq.
Saleh received the Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi, on Saturday, according to a statement by the media office of the President of the Republic, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
During the meeting, both discussed friendship and joint cooperation between the two countries that date back decades, and emphasized the common will towards strengthening relations in various economic, commercial and industrial fields, as well the role of Japanese companies in reconstructing Iraq and the transfer of technological expertise to Iraq, in addition to praising Japan's support for the Iraqi people.
The meeting dealt with a number of regional and international files of common interest where President Salih affirmed that there is an international and regional solidarity responsibility in protecting security and stability, defusing crises in the region and calming the tensions through a serious and effective dialogues that take into account the immediate challenges on the regional and international arena, foremost of which is the fight against terrorism and extremist ideology, as well as, cooperation in combating administrative and financial corruption, health fields, environmental protection and confronting the climate change crisis.
