Al-Kadhimi to Japan: Iraq is now open to Japanese investments

    Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi confirmed that Iraq has become open to Japanese investments.

    Al-Kadhimi, received Japan Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi, and his accompanying delegation on Saturday, according to a statement by the media office of the Prime Minister, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA). 

    Both sides discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation, and intensify bilateral cooperation, as well as economic exchange and joint coordination.

    "The Japanese experience from an Iraqi perspective is important, and the relentless effort to benefit from it. The Iraqi arena has become open to Japanese investments in various fields, especially the fields of energy, oil, electricity, alternative and renewable energies," stressed Al-Kadhimi.


    He expressed his appreciation for the role played by Japan on regional issues, praising the projects financed by Japan in the areas liberated from Daesh terrorist gangs by establishing security and sustainable development.

    Al-Kadhimi asserted to the visiting delegation, "the emphasis on Japan as it is invited to attend as an observer, in the Baghdad Conference for Cooperation and Partnership, which Iraq will host at the end of this month,"

    For his part, Japan Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi praised the "Iraqi initiatives that resonate positively at the regional and international levels," considering it "one of the pillars of consolidating security and stability in the region, as well as efforts to calm it down,"

    Motegi expressed Japan's support for the government's economic reform program represented by the White Sheet programs, confirming Japan's readiness to support the implementation of the White Paper, through the Economic Communication Group that was formed in late 2020.

    "Japan is continuing to provide aid and cooperation programs with Iraq in the field of counter - terrorism, combating extremism, and confronting Corona pandemic,” stressed Japanese delegation.
