Iraqi Athletics Federation announced on Saturday, that the athlete, Amir Falih, achieved a new world record in the World Athletics Championships currently being held in Kenya.
"The athlete, Amir Falih, achieved a good position in the current world championship in Nairobi, Kenya, after he ranked ninth in the world in pole vaulting for 4 meters and 85 centimeters high jumping,” said the director of the media office of the federation, Maytham Al-Hasani, to the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
Al-Hasani explained that gold medal for the race went to the Belarusian player, the silver went to the Finn, and the bronze went to the South African player,”
He stressed, "Iraq is distinguished in major tournaments with the sport of zanna, as his brother Muntadher Falih had previously achieved eighth, globally at the youth level and fourth globally in the World Junior Championships, then he won silver in the Junior Olympic Games in Nanjing, China, thus what Amir Falih achieved is an extension of Iraq's excellence in the game,"
