The Ministry of Communications announced today, Friday, that it has held continuous talks with the two global application companies, Facebook and WhatsApp, to open offices in Iraq.
A spokesman for the Ministry of Communications, Raad al-Mashhadani, said in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "a delegation of officials and specialized engineers in the Ministry of Communications held talks months ago with the director of the regional office of these two companies in Dubai regarding the establishment of offices for them in Iraq, through which citizens can document pages." He stressed that "the ministry is continuing these discussions with Facebook in the United States of America."
Al-Mashhadani explained that "it will take some time and all indicators are good, and there will be regional offices for these two applications in Iraq," noting that "these two companies promised to have offices in Iraq soon."
