Iraqi Airways revealed on today Thursday, details of the decision to stop flights between Baghdad and Minsk, as indicated approval to conduct flights in one direction for Belarus to return Iraqis.
The official spokesman for the company, Hussein Jalil, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), commenting on the decision to stop flights issued today, that "Iraqi Airways is an executive body and applies all instructions issued by the higher authorities represented by the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Transport or the Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority."
He added, "There is a committee formed by the Prime Ministry that includes all concerned parties, and directed the Ministry of Transport and Iraqi Airlines, as one of the ministry's formations, to temporarily stop flights, starting today, August 5, for a period of one week, between Baghdad and Minsk."
And he added, "The airline management directed all offices deployed in Baghdad, to return the passengers who cut tickets, their amounts without imposing fines, or to postpone the traveler's date of travel until other instructions are issued."
He stated that "approvals have been obtained to operate one-way flights in order to facilitate the return of Iraqis present on Belarusian soil."
