The Independent High Electoral Commission announced on Thursday, the completion of most of the timetable’s steps to prepare for the election day.
A statement by the IHEC, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), , stated that "the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners, Judge Jalil Adnan Khalaf, received at the headquarters of the IHEC in Baghdad, the British ambassador to Iraq, Mark Bryson and his accompanying delegation."
The statement continued, Judge Jalil Adnan Khalaf welcomed the visit of the British ambassador to the headquarters of the IHEC, congratulating him on the occasion of assuming his new duties, to complete what the former ambassador had begun through his interest in communicating with IHEC and Iraqi state institutions.
Khalaf affirmed that IHEC has completed most of the steps it set in the timetable to prepare for the election day on October 10, 2021, praising the international support for conducting the elections, which gave real impetus to the completion of the early elections file, through what was achieved by about Mainly through the United Nations Mission in Baghdad.
For his part, the British ambassador praised the performance and its keenness to explain all its steps and stages of work to the public, the media, international missions and official bodies, a role that is not easy at this stage, stressing that Britain is supportive of achieving the election date through its continuous communication with the UN mission in Iraq.
