The Independent High Electoral Commission announced on Monday, that there is no financial ceiling that determines the campaigning of candidates and the parties, while indicating that the candidates can perform all special activities for their electoral campaigns.
The Director of the Media and Mass Communication Department at the IHEC, Hassan Salman, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that what is confirmed by the IHEC now is the unrestricted electoral campaign according to the electoral campaign system, noting that "candidates can carry out all the special activities of their electoral campaigns.
Salman added that the length of the specified period of 3 months is sufficient for the candidates, pointing out that usually the actual activity of the candidates in electoral campaigns is often in the last days or the last month of the campaign period.
Regarding the total financial spending on the candidates’ electoral campaigns, Salman indicated that the electoral spending is determined by the candidate or the party itself, adding that some parties have high financial capabilities so they are enabled to carry out very strong electoral campaigns amounting to billions, and there is no specific ceiling for electoral propaganda.
