Baghdad-INA
The Parliamentary Oil and Energy Committee determined the possibility to which the oil and gas law can be legislated in the current parliamentary term.
Committee member MP Sattar al-Jabri told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that Oil and Gas Law is one of the strategic laws and it is difficult to approve it in the current parliamentary term, stressing that it will be deferred to the next parliamentary term.
Al-Jabri called for making the law among the priorities of the next parliament, as it achieves social justice by distributing wealth to the people of the same country without discrimination.
The Oil and Gas Law establishes a system for managing oil operations in Iraq, taking into consideration the existing international agreements between the Republic of Iraq and other countries regarding the transportation of crude oil.
It also aims to define the basis for cooperation between the concerned ministries in the federal government, as well as to establish a base for coordination and consultation between the federal authorities and the authorities of the regions and oil-producing provinces.
