The Parliamentary Health and Environment Committee revealed on Thursday, strict measures to prevent the recurrence of fires in hospitals, while noting that that the recommendations it made after t Ibn Al-Khatib Hospital incident were not adhered to.
Committee member MP Hassan Khalati told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): after the tragic incident that occurred in Ibn Al-Khatib Hospital, we directed number of recommendations and circulated them to all provinces, and among these recommendations is that there should be high-level coordination between health departments in the provinces and between the directorates of Civil Defense for safety and security measures, in addition to the high level of readiness in the civil defense directorates to provide all safety standards in hospitals, especially in epidemiological wards because they need large quantities of oxygen supplies ,which prone them to accidents.
Khalati added that the committee attended the coordination meetings between health departments and civil defense directorates, and among the required issues are early warning devices, pointing out after a period of up to three months since Ibn Al-Khatib incident, these recommendations were not accurately implemented.
