The Agency of Intelligence and Federal Investigation (AIFI) announced on Tuesday that it has thwarted a plot to detonate of one of the main power transmission towers between Baghdad and Diyala.
The Security Media Cell said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): The detachments of the AIFI at the Ministry of Interior managed to thwart the bombing of one of the main effective towers linking Baghdad and Al-Quds Electricity Station at Al-Waziriyah area between the provinces of Diyala and Baghdad, pointing out that a task force was formed in the light of the information and in coordination with the First Division of the Federal Police.
SMC added, the attempt was thwarted, and all the eight explosive packages planted on the tower's four pillars were seized and dismantled by the specialized forces.
