Thee Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee revealed today, Sunday, that there is parliamentary support for passing the draft law on compulsory conscription, although it suggested postponing its approval to the next parliamentary session.
Committee member Kati Al-Rikabi told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the draft law on compulsory conscription was put forward in the previous session, and was discussed in the previous and current sessions, and then it was returned to the government to make an amendment to some language paragraphs and other terms that pertain to the law," noting that "The law is still with the government."
